The village revenue extract for a landholding, focused on the land itself: its survey and subdivision, classification such as நஞ்சை (nanjai, wet land) or புஞ்சை (punjai, dry land), extent and the land tax payable. Read together with the patta: the patta records in whose name the revenue account stands, while the chitta records what kind of land it is and its revenue particulars. Tamil Nadu now issues both together as a single Patta/Chitta extract from the revenue records.
