A property can look clean on paper and still be the subject of a live court case. This tool searches court records three ways. By party name it queries the eCourts records for the district courts, the High Courts and the Supreme Court across India. By survey number it searches the Tamil Nadu revenue courts, which hear patta and sub division disputes and never appear in the eCourts system at all. By CNR number, the 16 character code that identifies one case, it pulls up that case directly.

What is the current status of a case I already know about?
It checks whether a property or a person is caught up in litigation. This tool searches three separate sources: eCourts records covering the district courts, High Courts and Supreme Court across India by party name, the Tamil Nadu revenue court records by survey number, and any single case by its CNR number. One payment covers one of those three.
Revenue courts are run by the revenue administration rather than the judiciary. In Tamil Nadu they hear disputes over patta transfer, sub division of survey numbers, land classification and encroachment on government poramboke land. A revenue court case does not appear in the eCourts system at all, which is why it has to be searched separately by survey number.
The Case Number Record is a 16 character code that uniquely identifies one case across the Indian court system, for example TNCH010000012024. The first four characters identify the court. You will find it on any order, notice or cause list for the case, and on the eCourts portal.

Yes, in the party name search, which queries eCourts records across the district courts, the High Courts and the Supreme Court. The revenue court search is Tamil Nadu only, and a CNR lookup returns whichever court that case belongs to.
That the source records returned no match for exactly what you searched. It is meaningful but it is not a guarantee. A case filed very recently may not be published yet, a case may be recorded under a different spelling of the name, and a revenue court matter may sit under a different survey number after a sub division. Treat it as strong evidence, not as a clearance.
Court records store a name exactly as it was typed when the case was filed, and Indian names are spelt many ways. We search the name you give us and we show you the exact text we searched. If the seller's name appears differently on the deed, run a second search with that spelling.
Lis pendens means a suit is pending over the property. Under section 52 of the Transfer of Property Act, a sale made while a suit is pending is subject to the outcome of that suit. A party name search that returns a pending case is the strongest early signal you can get, though a formal lis pendens check also involves the encumbrance certificate and the court's own file.
A CNR lookup and a revenue court search usually finish within a minute. A party name search takes a little longer because it queries records nationally. You can close the page: the result stays at its own link and we send you that link on WhatsApp.
