Is there a revenue court case on this survey number?

Pick the village and the survey number. The Tamil Nadu revenue court case register is searched for that survey, and you see every case it records, with the date filed, the petitioner and respondent, and whether it is pending or disposed. A survey that is not on the village map is never reported as clean.

The basics

What the register gives

A revenue court case is a dispute over patta, boundaries, assignment or land records heard by the revenue officers of the district, not by a civil court.

Searched by
Survey number

The district, taluk, village, survey number and sub-division. A revenue case is filed on the land, so the survey finds it.

Each case
Parties and dates

The date filed, the petitioner and the respondent, the proceeding number where given, and whether it is disposed.

Not covered
Civil suits

Suits in the civil courts are filed against a person, not a survey. Search the owner's name for those.

How it works

How to check a court case on a survey number

  1. 1

    Pick the place

Choose the district, taluk and village, then type the survey number and the sub-division if there is one.

  2. 2

    Press Run

The revenue court register is searched live. It can take a little while, so leave the page open.

  3. 3

    Read each case

Note the parties and the status. A pending case on the survey is a question for the seller and a lawyer before money moves.

Where it helps

When it helps with land

Patta disputes

A petition over a patta transfer or a boundary is heard by the revenue officers, so it is recorded here against the survey.

Before an advance

A case still pending on the survey is a question for the seller and a lawyer before any money moves.

Title review

A litigation search has a revenue side and a civil side. This covers the revenue side, by survey.

Worth knowing

No case recorded here does not mean the land is free of litigation. Civil suits, writs and criminal cases are filed against people, not surveys, and the register holds only what was entered. Search the owner's name in the court case registry and have a lawyer run a full litigation search.

Questions

Questions people ask

How do I check a court case on a survey number?

Pick the village and type the survey number, then press Run. The Tamil Nadu revenue court case register is searched for that survey, and every case it records is listed with the parties, the filing date and the status.

Does this cover civil courts?

No, revenue courts only. Civil suits are filed against a person, so search the owner's name with the court cases by name mini, or look up a known case by its CNR number.

No case found. Is the land clear?

It means the revenue court register records no case against that survey. It says nothing about civil suits, writ petitions or criminal cases, and it does not replace a lawyer's litigation search.

What do "disposed" and "pending" mean?

Disposed means the case has been decided or closed. Pending means it is still open. Ask for the order in a disposed case, since it may have changed the patta or the boundary.

Why does it say the survey is not on the village map?

The number you typed is not a survey of that village on the map. A search of a wrong number proves nothing, so it is not reported as a survey with no cases. Check the village and the survey number on the patta.

Why does it take a while?

The register is searched live each time, not read from a copy, so the answer is current but can take some time to come back.

When is it charged?

The price and when it is charged are shown beside the Run button. If the register cannot be reached, nothing is charged.
