What does poramboke mean?
Poramboke (புறம்போக்கு) is land not held under a private patta and kept for public or government use: roads, pathways, water bodies, channels, grazing grounds and the like. Private use needs a written assignment from the government.
What is the difference between nanjai and punjai?
Nanjai is wet land that can be irrigated, traditionally for paddy. Punjai (புன்செய்) is dry, unirrigated land, used for crops other than paddy. Type either word for the full entry.
What is natham land?
Natham (நத்தம்) is the house-site land of a village, set apart for dwellings, as distinct from the wet and dry fields around it.
