The answer

From the register, with its date and source.

Nothing run yet. The answer appears here with everything this mini adds:

  • State notices under the Highways, Industrial Purposes and 2013 Acts, and national highway notices from the Gazette of India, read together
  • Whether a notice names this survey, its parent, a sub-division carved from it, or only a neighbouring sub-division
  • A later withdrawal or a section 3D declaration said plainly, with what each means
The basics

What the check reads

A notice the government publishes in the gazette, listing the survey numbers it intends to acquire for a public project. Under the National Highways Act a later section 3D declaration vests the land in the Central Government.

How it works

How to check if land is under acquisition in Tamil Nadu

  1. 1

    Pick the village

Choose the district, taluk and village from the revenue lists, as the patta names them.

  2. 2

    Type the survey number

With its sub-division. Notices often name the parent survey or a sub-division carved from it, and the answer says which.

  3. 3

    Read the notice

A match gives the project, the Act, the date and the gazette issue. Take them to the Special District Revenue Officer (Land Acquisition) for the current position.

Where it helps

When it helps with land

Before an advance

Land notified for a road, an industrial park or an airport can be taken over the buyer's head. Check before money moves.

Near a new project

Ring roads, bypasses, SIPCOT parks and the new airport near Parandur all notify survey numbers village by village.

Compensation questions

The notice is the starting point for an award: it names the project, the Act and the authority.

Worth knowing

A notice records an intention to acquire, not that the acquisition was completed, and it can lapse or be withdrawn. No notice found is not proof the land is free: our reading of each gazette is partial. Town survey land is not covered here, because the notices carry no ward or block.

Questions

Questions people ask

How do I check if my land is under acquisition in Tamil Nadu?

Pick the village, type the survey number with its sub-division and press Run. Every gazette acquisition notice we hold that names it is listed with its project, Act, date and gazette issue.

What is a 3A or 3D notification?

Under the National Highways Act 1956, a section 3A notification declares the intention to acquire land for a highway, and a section 3D declaration, once published, vests the land in the Central Government. The answer says which kind each notice is.

The notice names my parent survey, not my sub-division. Is my plot affected?

Possibly. A notice that names the parent survey may take all of it or part. Read the schedule in the gazette and compare it with the FMB sketch of your sub-division.

The notice names another sub-division of my survey.

Then it is not your plot, and the answer says so. Check the FMB sketch for whether the acquired land adjoins yours.

No notice was found. Is my land safe?

It is a good sign, not proof. Our reading of each gazette is partial and older proposals may not be covered. The Special District Revenue Officer (Land Acquisition) can confirm.

Does it cover town land?

No. Gazette schedules name revenue survey numbers without the town survey ward and block, so a town match would be a guess. Verify My Land reads the town case with that caution.

Is it free?

Yes. A LandLens login is needed to run it.
