Check a patta by its patta number
A patta number names one holder's land account in one village. Pick the village and type the number: the live chitta comes back from the revenue register with the holder and every survey and sub-division under that patta, with its extent and land class, so the patta number alone leads to all the land it covers.

- The chitta read out in plain words, as the patta analyzer does: what it says, the land class, the extent converted, and what to check before you buy

Patta, chitta and the patta number
The number of a holder's land account in a revenue village. Every survey the holder owns in that village is listed under the same patta number in the chitta and the A-register.
- One number covers
- Every survey
All the holder's surveys in the village sit under one patta number, so one search lists them all.
- Unique within
- One village
The same patta number exists in every village, which is why the village is asked first.
- Read from
- Live register
The chitta is fetched from the revenue department's register at the time you run it.
How to view a patta using the patta number
- 1
Pick the village
Choose the district, taluk and village printed on the patta.
- 2
Type the patta number
The number on the patta or chitta, digits only.
- 3
Read the holdings
The holder as the register writes them, and each survey under the patta with its extent and land class.
When it helps with land
You hold an old patta
A family patta gives the number, not always every survey. This lists what stands under it today.
Find the survey number
Many owners know the patta number but not the survey. The answer gives every survey to take to the EC or the FMB.
Check a seller
Ask the seller for the patta number, and see whose name the register holds it in before you pay.
The chitta shows who the register records as holder today, not title. A sale registered but not yet mutated will still show the earlier holder. Read the encumbrance certificate for the deeds behind it.
Questions people ask
How do I check a patta by patta number in Tamil Nadu?
Pick the district, taluk and village, type the patta number and press Run. The live chitta comes back with the holder and every survey under that patta.
How do I find the survey number from a patta number?
Run this mini with the patta number: every survey and sub-division held under the patta is listed with its extent and land class.
Why is the village needed?
Patta numbers start again in every village, so number 754 exists in thousands of villages. The village picks the right one.
Does it work for town land?
No. Town survey land is kept in the town survey land register by ward, block and survey number. Use the land record mini with the survey number.
When is it charged?
Only when the register returns the patta, and the plain-words reading of it comes with it. A number it does not hold costs nothing. The price is shown beside the Run button.
