Background
The proposed 277 km greenfield expressway from Chennai to Salem was halted when the Madras High Court quashed its land acquisition and farmers in five districts opposed the alignment, but revival statements keep returning. Any restart would reopen acquisition across Kancheepuram, Tiruvannamalai, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri and Salem.
