What the Gazette governs

The Tamil Nadu Government Gazette dated 3 April 2013 contains planning notifications affecting specified land in Tiruchengode, Karaikudi and the Karapettai area of Kanchipuram. The Tiruchengode and Karaikudi notifications are draft variations, while the Karapettai notification concerns an approved detailed development plan.

Tiruchengode draft variation

The Commissioner of Town and Country Planning, in Proceedings Roc. No. 23454/2011/DP1 dated 12 March 2013, proposes the following changes to Tiruchengode Detailed Development Plan No. 10:

  • Conversion of industrial use to residential use in New Town Survey No. 1/2B, Ward C, Block 12, corresponding partly to Old Survey Field Nos. 167/1 and 167/2.
  • The proposal describes an extent of 1.61 acres, or 6,520 square metres.
  • The variation schedule separately records 5,752.30 square metres as residential land, identifies Miss. Chandra as owner and occupier, and describes the land as vacant.
  • Relevant maps and schedule entries would be amended.

Affected or interested persons could submit objections or suggestions within sixty days from Gazette publication. The plan could be inspected free of cost during office hours at the Tiruchengode Local Planning Authority or Municipality office.

Karaikudi draft variation

The Commissioner of Town and Country Planning, in Proceedings Roc. No. 12259/2012/DP3 dated 13 March 2013, proposes changes to the Railway Station Area Town Planning Scheme Part I of the Karaikudi Local Planning Authority or Municipality:

  • Part of the proposed E10 E10 scheme road would be deleted.
  • Residential use would be converted to commercial use for 6,072.80 square metres in Town Survey Nos. 1496/1A and 1496/2A, Ward 3, Block 41, corresponding to Old Survey No. 429/1B2.
  • The land is recorded as dry land, reserved for commercial purposes and to be developed by the owners.

Objections or suggestions could be submitted within sixty days. Free inspection was available during office hours at the Karaikudi Local Planning Authority or Municipality office.

When the changes take effect

The Tiruchengode and Karaikudi draft variations do not become enforceable merely through these notices. Each becomes enforceable only when a confirmed variation notification is published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette.

The approved Karapettai Detailed Development Plan No. 2 covers approximately 76.64 hectares, or 189.30 acres, including Survey Nos. 335 to 348 and 354 to 356. The notification states that the plan takes effect from its Gazette publication date.
