What this Gazette issue contains

The Government of Tamil Nadu, in Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, Part II, Section 2, No. 2, dated Wednesday, January 14, 2009, publishes notifications and orders issued by Secretariat Departments that are of interest to sections of the public.

Land and property related entries

Two departments publish corrections to earlier notifications affecting land records and acquisition details.

Highways and Minor Ports Department

The Highways and Minor Ports Department, through G.O. Ms. No. 309, Highways and Minor Ports (HW2), dated 26th December 2008, issues errata to an earlier notification under the Tamil Nadu Highways Act.

Key points:

• Several entries are corrected from Town Survey numbers to Survey numbers.
• Corrected descriptions include sub-divisions, ownership names, boundaries and extents.
• The corrected lands include entries such as S.No. 226-1B, S.No. 227A-6B, S.No. 659-4B and S.No. 659-5B.

This matters if your land title, boundary description or survey reference matches any of the corrected entries.

Industries Department

The Industries Department, by Letter No. 20623/MIG.2/2007-1, Industries, dated 5th December 2008, and Letter No. 21000/MIG.2/2007-1, Industries, dated 5th December 2008, issues errata to earlier notifications for acquisition of lands for setting up Industrial Complex Phase-II by State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu at Therkuveerapandiapuram Village, Ottapidaram Taluk, Thoothukudi District.

Key points:

• Owner names and descriptions are corrected for land in S.No. 88-3B and S.No. 88-3C.
• Another correction is issued for S.No. 54-4.
• These corrections relate to earlier acquisition notifications published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette Extraordinary dated 14th May 2007.

Commercial Taxes and Registration Department

G.O. Rt. No. 1257, Commercial Taxes and Registration (J-1), dated 23rd December 2008, provides for consolidation of stamp duty chargeable for issue of policies by the centres of the Oriental Insurance Company Limited, Chennai-108, in listed towns for the period from 1st October 2008 to 31st March 2009.

Home, Prohibition and Excise Department

G.O. Ms. No. 106, Home, Prohibition and Excise (III), dated 30th December 2008, amends an earlier notification by substituting the expression "MGM Indian Challenge Premium Whisky" for "MGM India Challenge Premium Whisky" in the relevant table entry.

Labour and Employment Department

G.O. (D) No. 535, Labour and Employment (L1), dated 18th December 2008, exempts the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation Limited from the Employees' State Insurance Act for the period from 1st October 2007 to 30th September 2008, subject to conditions including maintenance of registers, continued employee benefits based on prior contributions, and submission of returns.
