Land acquisition notifications for road projects in Thoothukudi and Vellore

What this gazette does

The Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, Part II, Section 2, dated June 3, 2020, carries two land acquisition notices issued by the Highways and Minor Ports Department. G.O. (2D). No. 6, Highways and Minor Ports (HQ1), dated 24th March 2020, acquires land in Maniyachi Village, Ottapidaram Taluk, Thoothukudi District, for formation of a new road from Thoothukudi to Vanchimaniyachi. G.O. (2D). No. 7, Highways and Minor Ports (HQ2), dated 24th March 2020, acquires land in Kandipedu Village, Katpadi Taluk, Vellore District, for formation of the Ring Road to Vellore.

G.O. (2D). No. 6, Highways and Minor Ports (HQ1), dated 24th March 2020, states that the Governor of Tamil Nadu acquires the lands specified in the schedule for the new road from Thoothukudi to Vanchimaniyachi in Maniyachi Village of Ottapidaram Taluk in Thoothukudi District.

• total extent to be acquired is 11.25.13 hectares
• the lands are described as dry lands
• the compensation is to be paid out of funds controlled or managed by the Divisional Engineer (Highways), Construction and Maintenance, Thoothukudi
• the plan of lands is kept in the office of the District Collector, Thoothukudi, and the Revenue Divisional Officer, Kovilpatti, for inspection during office hours

Vellore acquisition

G.O. (2D). No. 7, Highways and Minor Ports (HQ2), dated 24th March 2020, states that the Governor of Tamil Nadu acquires the lands specified in the schedule in Kandipedu Village, Katpadi Taluk, Vellore District, for highways purpose, namely formation of the Ring Road to Vellore.

• total extent to be acquired is 4.33.62 hectares or 43362 square meters of dry lands
• the compensation is to be paid by the Divisional Engineer, Construction and Maintenance, Highways Department, Vellore
• the plan of lands is kept in the office of the Tahsildar, Katpadi, Vellore District, for inspection during office hours
• the schedule includes details of buildings and trees in the affected fields, such as pump sheds, wells, cattle sheds, houses, compound walls, water tanks, coconut trees, palm trees, neem trees and other trees

What a buyer or owner should check
