What the gazette covers

Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, Part II, Section 2, No. 33 contains several separate government notifications rather than one general land rule. Property owners and buyers should check whether their land, transaction or project falls within one of the specifically named categories or locations.

The contents also list land acquisition notifications under the Tamil Nadu Highways Act and a notification declaring the area comprising Odanchatram Second Grade Municipality as the Odanchatram Local Planning Area.

Stamp duty and registration changes

The Commercial Taxes and Registration Department published the following targeted measures:

  • G.O. Ms. No. 105 dated 2 August 2012 remits Rs. 28,30,470, representing fifty percent of the stamp duty payable on sale instruments bearing pending document numbers 86/2010 and 87/2010 at the Perundurai Sub-Registrar Office. The instruments were executed in favour of Erode Textile Mill Limited. The notification is deemed effective from 14 July 2010.
  • G.O. Ms. No. 106 dated 2 August 2012 amends the Commercial Taxes and Registration Department notification dated 22 July 2006. It replaces the expression “tiny industries” with “micro enterprises” in the stamp duty remission concerning documents mortgaged or pledged with banks for securing loans.
  • G.O. Ms. No. 107 dated 3 August 2012 reduces stamp duty on gift deeds under which applicants for group housing or commercial complexes transfer land to the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited for establishing a sub-station. The duty is reduced to that chargeable on a nominal value of Rs. 100.
  • G.O. Ms. No. 107 dated 3 August 2012 also reduces the registration fee payable for those gift deeds by reference to a nominal value of Rs. 100.
