Proposed Thangachimadam reserved forest

The Environment and Forests Department, under G.O. Ms. No. 62, Environment and Forests (FR.14), dated 9 June 2016, proposes to constitute specified land in Thangachimadam Forest Block as reserved forest under the Tamil Nadu Forest Act, 1882. The proposal covers 76.86.0 hectares in No. 1 Pamban Village, Rameswaram Taluk, Ramanathapuram District.

The scheduled land is divided into four parts:

  • Bit I, 37.71.5 hectares, covering Survey Numbers 644/1, 644/2, 644/5, 644/6 and 644/7.
  • Bit II, 8.77.5 hectares, covering Survey Numbers 644/8 to 644/13 as individually listed.
  • Bit III, 30.26.5 hectares, covering Survey Numbers 656/2, 656/3, 656/4, 656/5 and 656/7.
  • Bit IV, 0.10.5 hectares, covering Survey Number 656/9.

The Gazette provides detailed boundaries using adjoining survey numbers. Buyers, owners and claimants concerned with these survey numbers or neighbouring land should compare their records and boundaries with the schedule. The notification states that reserved forest status is proposed, rather than recording a final constitution.
