What the gazette covers

Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, Part VI, Section 1 Supplement, Number 4 contains two separate notifications concerning registered organisations. It does not record a land transfer, change of land use or alteration of property ownership.

Dissolution of the cooperative society

Notification reference Na. Ka. No. 8238/2008/G concerns S.A. 126, Mecheri Thanthai Periyar Powerloom Weavers Cooperative Society Limited, which operated in Mecheri, Mettur Taluk, Salem District.

Key provisions are:

• The society was dissolved under section 137(1) of the Tamil Nadu Cooperative Societies Act, 1983.
• The Handloom Officer (Law) in the office of the Deputy Director of Handlooms and Textiles, Salem Region, was appointed as liquidation officer under section 138(1).
• The notification is dated 31 December 2009 and was issued at Salem by N. Sridharan, Deputy Director holding full additional charge.

Members, creditors and anyone dealing with assets or obligations of this cooperative should note the dissolution and the appointment of the liquidation officer.

Proposed removal of registered societies

Notification reference Na. Ka. No. 2137/A2/09 was issued under section 44(2) of the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act, 1975. It states that the listed societies had not submitted reports required under section 16(3)(b).

Key provisions are:

• The notification lists 64 societies with their registration numbers and addresses.
• Unless a satisfactory explanation is received within three months from publication in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, their names will be removed from the register of societies.
• The list includes residents welfare associations, village forest councils, educational and social welfare societies, workers associations, self help group organisations, an irrigation farmers association and a shop tenants organisation.
• Examples include Sri Raghavendra Nagar Residents Welfare Association, Seenivasa Nagar and Associated Residents Welfare Association, several village forest councils, and Rajavilas Building Shops Tenants Organisation and Public Welfare Association.

The notification gives a proposed removal, not confirmation that every listed society was ultimately removed. Property owners or buyers relying on a listed association should verify whether it provided an explanation and remained registered.
