Land and forest proposal

The Environment, Climate Change and Forests Department issued G.O. Ms. No. 138 dated 14 September 2023 concerning Pannaikadu Forest Block-III in Kodaikanal Taluk, Dindigul District.

• Notification No. II(2)/ECCF/881/2023 proposes to constitute the scheduled land as reserved forest under the Tamil Nadu Forest Act, 1882.
• The land is identified as Pannaikadu Forest Block-III in No. 9, Pannaikadu Village, Survey Number 1383.
• The stated extent is 20.66 hectares.
• The schedule describes boundaries using neighbouring survey numbers in Pannaikadu Village and the common village boundary with No. 8, Poolathur Village.
• The Special Tahsildar (Forest Settlement), Dindigul is appointed as Forest Settlement Officer.
• Notification No. II(2)/ECCF/882/2023 appoints the District Forest Officer and Wildlife Warden, Kodaikanal Wildlife Sanctuary, to attend the forest settlement inquiry for the Government.
• Notification No. II(2)/ECCF/883/2023 appoints the Personal Assistant (General) to the Collector of Dindigul District to hear appeals against specified forest settlement orders.

Owners or buyers dealing with Survey Number 1383, or land adjoining the listed boundaries, should note that the notification begins proceedings to constitute the area as reserved forest.

Employees' State Insurance exemption

The Labour Welfare and Skill Development Department issued G.O. (D). No. 482 dated 15 September 2023, exempting the Dindigul Co-operative Milk Producers Union Limited, Dindigul from operation of the Employees' State Insurance Act for one year, from 14 October 2023 to 13 October 2024.

• The union must keep a register of exempted employees and their designations.
• Employees retain benefits arising from contributions paid before the exemption began.
• Contributions already paid for the exempted period will not be refunded.
• Required earlier returns, records and information remain subject to verification by authorised officials.

Procurement notification

The Finance Department issued G.O. Ms. No. 285 dated 20 September 2023. It declares the entrustment to the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras of preparing the Detailed Project Report and executing the proposed project called “Making Koyambedu Market Complex as Plastic Free and Carbon Neutral” for the purpose of the relevant provision of the Tamil Nadu Transparency in Tenders Act, 1998.

Labour disputes

The Labour Welfare and Skill Development Department issued G.O. (D). Nos. 463 and 465 dated 1 September 2023 and G.O. (D). No. 476 dated 7 September 2023. These refer disputes involving Cape Garden Estate and the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (Tirunelveli) Limited, Nagercoil Region to the Tirunelveli Labour Court, including disputes over denial of work and withholding of pay increments. The Labour Court is requested to issue decisions within three months after receiving each order.
