Land acquired for highway projects

The Highways and Minor Ports Department published two acquisitions that may directly affect owners, occupiers and people claiming an interest in the scheduled properties.

• G.O. (D) No. 237, Highways and Minor Ports Department, dated 17 October 2017, acquires 2,547 square metres of punjai and government manai land in Tenkasi town, Tenkasi Taluk, Tirunelveli District. The land is required for constructing the Tenkasi bypass from kilometre 0/0 to kilometre 6/0.
• The schedule identifies individual survey fields, areas, landholders and physical features such as trees, wells and buildings.
• Plans for the Tenkasi lands are available for inspection during office hours at the office of the Tenkasi Revenue Divisional Officer.
• G.O. (D) No. 238, Highways and Minor Ports Department, dated 19 October 2017, acquires 738.2 square metres of government manavari land in Ernavur Village, Thiruvottriyur Taluk, Thiruvallur District, within Chennai Corporation Zone 1.
• The Ernavur acquisition is for an overbridge across the Ernavur Sadayankuppam Buckingham Canal and widening of Sadayankuppam Panchayat Road.
• The Ernavur schedule covers town survey subdivisions 1/58, 1/59, 1/60, 1/61 and 1/62. It records registered holders or interested persons, boundaries, buildings, sheds and compound walls.
• Compensation for the Ernavur lands is to be paid from funds controlled or managed by the Chief Engineer (Construction and Maintenance), Highways Department.

Zoo Authority membership

The Environment and Forests Department, through G.O. Ms. No. 124 dated 10 October 2017, amends an earlier notification by replacing the membership provision in the Memorandum of Association of the Zoo Authority of Tamil Nadu. The revised list names the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu as Chairperson, the Minister for Forests as Vice-Chairperson, government officials and institutional representatives as members, and the Director of Arignar Anna Zoological Park, Vandalur, as Member Secretary.

Courts at Vazhapadi

The Home Department published G.O. Ms. No. 754 dated 12 October 2017 concerning the District Munsif's Court at Vazhapadi in Salem District.

• Salem District will have eight District Munsifs when the Vazhapadi District Munsif assumes charge.
• One District Munsif is assigned to the Vazhapadi court.
• The Subordinate Judge's Court at Salem will exercise original jurisdiction over it.

The Home Department also published G.O. Ms. No. 755 dated 12 October 2017, establishing a Judicial Magistrate Court at Vazhapadi.

Minimum wages correction

The Labour and Employment Department issued errata dated 13 October 2017 to an earlier notification revising minimum wages for employment in polythene manufacturing, foam item processing and plastic manufacturing.
