What this gazette contains

The Government of Tamil Nadu, in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, No. 50, Part II, Section 2, dated 17 December 2025, published a set of department notifications that affect specific companies, police administration, courts and child welfare administration.

Electricity tax exemptions

The Energy Department published Government Order Ms. No. 121, Energy (D2), dated 25 November 2025, and Government Order Ms. No. 122, Energy (D2), dated 25 November 2025.

These notifications exempt electricity tax under the Tamil Nadu Tax on Consumption or Sale of Electricity Act, 2003 for named companies.

Key points:

• M/s. Voltas Limited, SIPCOT Industrial Park, Gummidipoondi, Thiruvallur gets exemption on energy sold for consumption.
• M/s. Voltas Limited also gets exemption on consumption of electricity for own use.
• Both exemptions run from the date of publication of the notification till 15th August 2029.
• M/s. Techno Activewear Private Limited, Plot No. MM4, SIPCOT, Indur Village, Perundurai Industrial Estate, Erode gets exemption on energy sold for consumption.
• M/s. Techno Activewear Private Limited also gets exemption on consumption of electricity for own use.
• Both exemptions run from the date of publication of the notification till 28th February 2029.

Police medals amendment

The Home Department, through Government Order Ms. No. 592, Home (SC), dated 26 November 2025, amended the scheme for the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Medal for Excellence in Intelligence and Excellence in Special Operation.

Key changes:

• The upper limit for medals for Excellence in Intelligence is increased from 20 to 30.
• The upper limit for medals for Excellence in Special Operation is increased from 10 to 20.
• The Additional Director General of Police, Intelligence is the nodal officer for nominations in intelligence and operations as stated in the notification.
• The Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order is the nodal officer for nominations from districts, cities including Chennai, and other units as stated in the notification.
• Paragraphs 3 and 4 are deleted.

Court, police and child welfare changes

Other published actions are:

• Government Order Ms. No. 600, Home (Courts-III), dated 1 December 2025 constitutes an Additional District Court at Valliyoor in Tirunelveli District.
• The number of District Judge and Additional District Judges for the Principal District Court in Tirunelveli District is altered to six, from the date the Additional District Judge, Valliyoor assumes charge.
• Government Order (2D) No. 380, Home (Citizenship), dated 25 November 2025 amends an earlier Delhi Special Police Establishment Act notification by inserting the words "of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988" after a specified expression.
• Government Order (D) No. 296, Social Welfare and Women Empowerment [SW5(1)], dated 28 November 2025 reconstitutes the Child Welfare Committee, Vellore District with one Chairperson and four Members.
• Government Order Ms. No. 609, Home (Courts-VIA), dated 4 December 2025 appoints listed police officers as Special Executive Magistrates for the corresponding cities and gives them powers under sections 126 to 129 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 within their jurisdiction.

Who should care

This gazette matters mainly to the named companies, police officers and departments, court users in Tirunelveli District, and people dealing with child welfare administration in Vellore District. For most property buyers and owners, it does not create a general land or registration rule.
