• Dr. M. Srinivasan, Dean of the Faculty of Marine Sciences, Annamalai University Chidambaram, is nominated to the university Syndicate for three years from 30 January 2020, or until he ceases to be a Dean, whichever occurs first.
• Tmt. Aruljothi is appointed Special Public Prosecutor to conduct cases registered under the Protection of Human Rights Act before the Courts of Sessions functioning as Human Rights Courts in Dharmapuri District.
• The prosecutor appointment is for three years from the date she takes charge, subject to the existing terms and conditions.

Employees' State Insurance exemption

Employees' State Insurance exemption notification Number II(2)/LE/830/2020 exempts Thanjavur West Sarvodaya Sangh, Thanjavur, from operation of the Employees' State Insurance Act for one year, from 11 October 2020 to 10 October 2021.

Key conditions include:

• The management must keep a register of exempted employees and their designations.
• Employees retain benefits earned from contributions paid before the exemption began.
• Contributions already paid for the exempted period will not be refunded.
• The employer must submit required returns for the earlier covered period.
• Authorised officers may inspect premises, records, employment information and wage documents.

Labour disputes

Labour and Employment Department Orders Number 623, 606, 607, 608 and 619 refer disputes involving Doosan Power Systems India Private Limited, Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporations and Bharat Textiles and Proofing Industries Limited to the Industrial Tribunal or Labour Courts. The disputes include disciplinary penalties, wage increases, allowances and other employment claims. The relevant adjudicating bodies are requested to give awards within three months after receiving the respective orders.
