From which year is the EC available online in Tamil Nadu?

It differs by village. Each village in the table carries the exact date range that the online register covers, and some villages have more than one range where there was a gap. Look up your village here before you request an EC so you ask for years the register actually holds.

Why does my village show more than one period?

Records were brought online office by office, and a few villages have stretches where no entries were digitised. Each stretch that is available is listed as its own period, so a gap between two periods means those years have to be checked at the SRO in person.

My village is not in the list. What does that mean?

No online EC data is recorded for that village in the availability register we hold. The village may be listed under a different spelling or under the SRO it belonged to earlier, so try the quick search with part of the name. If it is still missing, the EC for those years must be applied for at the SRO.

How do I get the EC once I know the years are available?

Open the EC page on this site, choose the SRO and village, enter the survey number or document number and the period, and the certificate is fetched from the registration department and delivered on the page as a PDF.

What is an encumbrance certificate?

An EC lists every registered transaction on a property for the period asked for: sales, mortgages, gifts, leases and releases. It is how a buyer or a bank confirms that the seller holds the property and that no loan or claim is outstanding on it.
