Commercial Lookup API: Chennai commercial electricity connections and Tamil Nadu GST locations
Yes. commercial_lookup searches two registers at once: the commercial electricity connections of Greater Chennai (consumer name, address, connected load, tariff, connection status, owner or tenant, and a map point) and the GST registered locations of Tamil Nadu (GSTIN, registered address and a map point). Search by business name, address or street, consumer or service number, tariff, load range, GSTIN or district. It never returns phone numbers or emails and does not search by phone number. A match shows commercial use at an address, not ownership of the land. It costs 1 credit per search that finds something.

A real answer from the API (22 Oct 2026), trimmed to two of the eight connections, with the reading note left out. Names and addresses are as the register writes them, spacing included.
What it returns
Up to 25 electricity connections and up to 25 GST locations. found is false (status not_found) when nothing matches.
| Field | What it holds |
|---|---|
connections | Electricity rows: consumer_name, address, connected_load (kW), tariff_code, zone, consumer_code, service_number, owner_type (OWN owner, TWOC/TWC tenant), connection_status, phase, lat, lng, and the distribution office codes. |
gst_registrations | GST rows: gstin, building_no, building_name, street, block, place, landmark, district, district_code, location_kind, lat, lng. |
match_count, searched_by, searched_registers | How many rows, what the search keyed on, and which registers were asked (a GSTIN search never asks the electricity register). |

message | On not_found: what was searched. |

Which commercial electricity connections does State Bank of India hold in Chennai South, and what load?
Your AI says the price, searches the registers, and maps the connections.
Responses
Every answer has the same envelope. What status can say for this call:
| status | What it means |
|---|---|
ok | At least one connection or GST location matches. Charged 1 credit. |
not_found | Nothing matches, the GSTIN is not a valid GSTIN, no search input was sent, or both registers were unreachable. Nothing is charged. |
invalid_args | A phone number was sent. Phone number search is not offered. |
Where the data comes from
The commercial consumer register of the state electricity distribution company for Greater Chennai, and the register of GST registered business locations in Tamil Nadu.
Electricity connections: Greater Chennai commercial connections only, in the Chennai North and Chennai South zones. GST locations: all of Tamil Nadu.
Read from our copy of both registers. Neither register publishes a date of its own.
Name and address are matched as partial text; consumer number and GSTIN exactly. A GSTIN is checked for its 15-character shape before anything is searched. Up to 25 rows are returned from each register.
Who uses it
Commercial property teams
See which businesses are connected on a street, and at what load, before leasing or valuing a building.
Lenders
Confirm that a borrower's business runs at the address in the file, by its electricity connection or GST registration.
Law firms
Check whether a property described as residential carries commercial connections.
Limits and good practice
- Electricity connections cover Greater Chennai commercial connections only. GST locations cover Tamil Nadu.
- A match shows commercial use or occupation at an address, not ownership of the land. Read the land record for that.
- No phone numbers or emails are returned, and phone number search is refused.
- Up to 25 rows per register. Narrow the search with a zone, tariff, status or load range.
Pricing
Each search that finds something costs 1 credit; nothing otherwise. Credits come from the same LandLens wallet as the chat and the minis. How billing works.
For thousands of calls a month, a portfolio sweep or a platform built on these registers, we quote a customised bulk price, with invoicing to match.
Questions
Is there an API to search Chennai commercial electricity connections?
Yes, this one. It searches Greater Chennai's commercial electricity consumers by name, address, consumer number, tariff, status or load, with a map point for each.
Can I look up a GSTIN's registered address?
Yes. Send gstin; the GST register returns the registered location with a map point. Tamil Nadu GSTINs only.
How much does a search cost?
1 credit per search that finds something. Nothing otherwise.
Can I search by phone number?
No. Phone number search is not offered, and phone numbers and emails are never returned.
