Land Acquisition Notice API: is this survey number notified?
Yes. The LandLens acquisition notice API checks whether a land acquisition notice names a survey number: notices in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette under the Highways Act 2001, the Acquisition of Land for Industrial Purposes Act 1997, the 2013 Act and the 1894 Act, and national highway notices under sections 3A and 3D of the National Highways Act from the Gazette of India. Send the survey number with its village and district (or the revenue codes) and you get each notice's project, act, date and gazette issue, whether it names this survey, its parent or another sub-division, and whether it was withdrawn. About 6,500 notices naming some 233,000 parcels are read, from 2008 onward. It costs nothing.

A real answer from the API, trimmed for length: one of two notices is shown (the other names a neighbouring sub-division), and the caveat, the per gazette coverage and the search page link are left out. The project text is as the gazette schedule was read.
What it returns
One call. found is true when a notice names this survey, its parent or a split; notices lists the matches.
| Field | What it holds |
|---|---|
status, match | warning when a notice names the land, with how: exact, parent or split. |
declared_acquired | true when a National Highways Act section 3D declaration names it. The land has then vested in the Central Government. |
withdrawn | true when a later notice withdrew the land. |
other_sub_division_only | true when a notice names only another sub-division of the same survey number. That is not this land. |
possible_on_town_survey_land | true when the match is on town survey land, where old and new survey numbers can be confused. |
scanned_schedule | true when a matching notice was read from a scanned page. Check the printed schedule. |
notices[] | Up to eight notices: project, act, notice_kind, notified_on, gazette_issue, gazette_year, village, taluk, district, tier, survey_in_notice, released, amended and gazette (state or central). |
village_notices, village_matched_by | How many notices name any survey in this village, and how the village was matched. |
message, caveat | The answer in words, and what a notice does and does not prove. |
coverage | How many notices, issues and parcels were read, from each gazette, and the years. |
Inputs
The JSON body of the POST is the arguments. Send survey with village and district, or with the three codes from resolve_parcel.
| Argument | Type | What to send |
|---|---|---|
surveyrequired |
string | The survey number with sub-division, e.g. 417/3 or 88/2A1. |
village |
string | The revenue village. |
district |
string | The district. Needed unless the codes are sent, because village names repeat. |
taluk |
string | |
district_code |
string | The revenue district code from resolve_parcel. With taluk_code and village_code, the village is matched exactly. |
taluk_code |
string | From the parcel lookup. |
village_code |
string | From the parcel lookup. |

Is survey 4/24 in Moovarasampattu, Chengalpattu under land acquisition? Which project, and when was it notified?
Your AI checks the acquisition notices for the survey number. It is free.
Responses
Every answer has the same envelope. What status can say for this call:
| status | What it means |
|---|---|
ok | A notice names this survey, its parent or a sub-division split from it. |
not_found | No notice we hold names it, the village or district was missing, or the notices could not be read. The message says what was read. It is not proof the land is free. |
invalid_args | survey was missing. Nothing ran. |
free_limit_reached | The account has used its free calls for the hour or the day. retry_after says how many seconds to wait; paid calls keep working. |
Where the data comes from
The acquisition notices published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette (Extraordinary), and the national highway notices for Tamil Nadu published in the Gazette of India, with the survey numbers in their schedules.
2,858 state notices from 1,325 gazette issues (2008 to 2026) and 3,675 national highway notices from 826 issues (2010 to 2026), naming about 233,000 parcels across 38 districts. Every answer carries this coverage block.
Both gazettes are read again about once a month, and every notice carries its own gazette date.
The survey numbers are read from each notice's schedule and matched to the village through the revenue register where the names allow, or by village and district name. A notice is matched on this survey exactly, on its parent survey, or on a sub-division split from it. Older national highway schedules were read from scanned pages and are flagged, because a digit can be misread.
Who uses it
Land buyers
Check that the survey number is not notified for a highway, metro or industrial park before paying an advance.
Advocates
Cite the gazette issue, date and act of any acquisition notice on the schedule property in a title opinion.
Lenders
Screen mortgaged land for acquisition notices before sanction and at each review.
Limits and good practice
- A notice is an intention to acquire. It can lapse or be withdrawn. Only a section 3D declaration means the land has vested.
- No notice found is not proof the land is free. The reading of each gazette is partial.
- Village names repeat across districts. Send the district, or the codes from resolve_parcel.
- Older national highway schedules were read from scans; when scanned_schedule is true, match the survey against the printed schedule.
- Project text is as read from the gazette schedule and can carry stray words.
Pricing
The acquisition notice check costs nothing. Free calls have their own allowance per hour and per day, counted across every key and connected app on the account. Credits come from the same LandLens wallet as the chat and the minis. How billing works.
Free calls have an hourly and daily allowance. For more than that, or a platform built on these registers, we set up limits and a plan to match.
Questions
Is there an API to check whether land is under acquisition in Tamil Nadu?
Yes. Send the survey number with its village and district and the API returns any state gazette or national highway acquisition notice that names it, with the gazette issue and date.
Does a notice mean the land has been acquired?
No. A notice is an intention to acquire and can lapse or be withdrawn. A section 3D declaration under the National Highways Act is the exception: it vests the land in the Central Government, and declared_acquired says so.
Why does a notice for another sub-division show up?
It names a different branch of the same survey number. other_sub_division_only flags when that is all there is, and it is not a finding for your land.
How much does it cost?
It costs nothing, within the account's free call allowance.
