Manaiyadi Sastram API for room dimensions
Yes. The LandLens Manaiyadi API returns the traditional Tamil Manaiyadi Sastram verdict for a room's internal length and width (6 to 100 feet) and wall height (6 to 30 feet): favourable, unfavourable or neutral for each figure, the traditional effect in Tamil and English, the nearest favourable sizes for any figure that is not, and whether the length and width together pass the rule that both must be favourable. It costs nothing.

What it returns
One entry in checks for each dimension sent. found is false (status not_found) when no dimension was sent.
| Field | What it holds |
|---|---|
checks[].dimension | length, width or height. |
checks[].feet | The whole foot that was read. measured_ft is the figure you sent when it was not a whole number. |
checks[].verdict | favorable, unfavorable, neutral, or out_of_range when the figure is outside the table (note gives the range). |
checks[].effect, effect_ta | The traditional effect of that measure, in English and in Tamil. |
checks[].nearest_favorable | For a figure that is not favourable: the nearest favourable sizes, up to two. |
rounding_note, rounding_changes_verdict | Present when a fractional figure was rounded; the second is true when rounding the other way would change the verdict. |
combination_ok | With both length and width sent: true only when both are favourable. combination_note names the side that fails. |
note | How the rule is read: internal dimensions excluding walls, and no room except a toilet under 6 feet. |
Inputs
The JSON body of the POST is the arguments. Send any one or more. The length and width verdict together needs both.
| Argument | Type | What to send |
|---|---|---|
length_ft |
number | Internal length of the room in feet, 6 to 100, excluding the walls. |
width_ft |
number | Internal width of the room in feet, 6 to 100, excluding the walls. |
height_ft |
number | Wall height in feet, optional |

Our bedroom is 23 by 16 feet inside. Is that good as per Manaiyadi Sastram, and if not, what size should we change it to?

Responses
Every answer has the same envelope. What status can say for this call:
| status | What it means |
|---|---|
ok | At least one dimension was read. Read combination_ok when both length and width were sent. |
not_found | No usable dimension was sent; error says what to send. |
free_limit_reached | The account has used its free calls for the hour or the day. retry_after says how many seconds to wait; paid calls keep working. |
Where the data comes from
The traditional Manaiyadi Sastram tables: one for length and width in whole feet from 6 to 100, and one for wall height from 6 to 30, each foot carrying its verdict and its effect in Tamil and English. They are the same tables our public Manaiyadi calculator uses.
Every whole foot from 6 to 100 for length and width, and from 6 to 30 for wall height.
A fixed traditional table. It does not change.
Each figure is looked up in whole feet. A fractional figure is rounded to the nearest foot, and when the feet either side carry different verdicts the answer says so in rounding_note and rounding_changes_verdict.
Who uses it
Architects and home designers
Check every room on a plan against Manaiyadi before the client asks, and move a wall by a foot where it helps.
Builders selling to Tamil buyers
Show the Manaiyadi verdict for each room in a floor plan on the listing or the brochure.
Property apps and assistants
Answer "is 23 feet good as per manaiyadi" in Tamil and English, with the nearest better size.
Limits and good practice
- Manaiyadi Sastram is customary guidance, never a legal, structural or planning requirement. Present it that way.
- Measurements are internal room dimensions in feet, excluding the walls. A plot or outer wall size is not what the table is read for.
- The table is in whole feet. Measure to the whole foot when rounding_changes_verdict is true.
- Figures outside 6 to 100 feet (6 to 30 for height) come back out_of_range with no verdict.
Pricing
The Manaiyadi check costs nothing. Free calls have their own allowance per hour and per day, counted across every key and connected app on the account, and it is larger once the account has bought credits. Credits come from the same LandLens wallet as the chat and the minis. How billing works.
Free calls have an hourly and daily allowance. For more than that, or a platform built on these registers, we set up limits and a plan to match.
Questions
Is there an API for Manaiyadi Sastram?
Yes, this one. Send a room's length, width and height in feet and get the verdict for each, with its effect in Tamil and English, over HTTPS or MCP, at no charge.
Should I use the outer or the inner measurement?
The inner one. The rule is read on the internal dimensions of the room, excluding the walls.
What happens with 10.5 feet?
It is read as the nearest whole foot. The answer carries rounding_note, and rounding_changes_verdict is true when 10 and 11 feet carry different verdicts, so you know to measure again.
Do both length and width need to be favourable?
By the traditional rule, yes. combination_ok is true only when both are favourable, and combination_note names the side that is not.
