Elevation and Slope API for a plot
Yes. The LandLens elevation API takes a latitude and longitude and returns the ground's height above sea level in metres, its slope in degrees and percent with a plain band (flat, gentle, moderate, steep), and the direction the ground falls, read from the Copernicus digital elevation model. It answers "is this plot low-lying" and "which way does it slope" in under a second. It costs nothing.

What it returns
One call, one point. found is false (status not_found) when the elevation service does not answer.
| Field | What it holds |
|---|---|
elevation_m | Height above sea level at the point, in metres. |
slope_deg, slope_pct | The ground slope, in degrees and in percent. |
slope_band | flat (under 1 degree), gentle (1 to 3), moderate (3 to 8) or steep (8 and over). |
aspect_deg, aspect_compass | The direction the ground falls, in degrees from north and as a compass point (N, NE, E ...). Null on flat ground. |
neighbors_m | The heights about 30 metres north, south, east and west, in metres. |
note | How to read the figures. |
Inputs
The JSON body of the POST is the arguments. Both are required. resolve_parcel gives a point inside any Tamil Nadu plot.
| Argument | Type | What to send |
|---|---|---|
latrequired |
number | Latitude in decimal degrees. |
lngrequired |
number | Longitude in decimal degrees. |
Code
Set LANDLENS_KEY to your key. In an AI app, connect https://verified.realestate/mcp once and ask in plain words instead. In Postman, download this API's collection, import it (File, Import) and set apiKey.

How high above sea level is the land at 12.9010, 80.2279, and which way does it slope?
Your AI reads the height and slope at the point. It is free.
Responses
Every answer has the same envelope. What status can say for this call:
| status | What it means |
|---|---|
ok | The height and slope were read. |
not_found | The elevation service did not answer. Try again in a moment. |
invalid_args | lat or lng is missing. |
free_limit_reached | The account has used its free calls for the hour or the day. retry_after says how many seconds to wait; paid calls keep working. |
Where the data comes from
The Copernicus digital elevation model, a global model of ground height at about 90 metre resolution, read through a public elevation service.
Any point on land, in Tamil Nadu or elsewhere.
The elevation model is a fixed survey of the terrain; it does not change with time. Recent earthworks, buildings and filling are not in it.
The height is read at the point and at four points about 30 metres north, south, east and west of it. Slope and the direction of fall are worked out from those four heights. Below half a degree of slope no direction is given.
Who uses it
Buyers
See whether a plot sits low before buying in a flood-prone area, and ask the right questions about drainage.
Builders and engineers
Get the fall of a site before planning its drainage, plinth level and earthwork.
Analysts
Add height and slope to every parcel in a study at no cost.
Limits and good practice
- The model's cells are about 90 metres across. It shows the lie of the land, not the level of one plot; a site level survey is still needed for design.
- Buildings, filled plots and recent earthworks are not in the model.
- Near the coast, a height under about 5 metres is a reason to check the flood zone too.
Pricing
The elevation API costs nothing. Free calls have their own allowance per hour and per day. Credits come from the same LandLens wallet as the chat and the minis. How billing works.
Free calls have an hourly and daily allowance. For more than that, or a platform built on these registers, we set up limits and a plan to match.
Questions
Is there an API for the height above sea level of a location?
Yes, this one. Send lat and lng and you get the elevation in metres with the slope and the direction the ground falls.
How accurate is it?
It is read from a 90 metre elevation model. Good for "is this area low or high, flat or sloping"; not a substitute for a level survey of the plot.
Does it work outside Tamil Nadu?
Yes. The elevation model is global.
What does it cost?
It costs nothing, within the account's free call allowance.
