Tamil Nadu Land Glossary API
Yes. The LandLens glossary API explains the land, revenue and deed vocabulary of Tamil Nadu: poramboke, nanjai, punjai, natham, kist, taram, anubhavam and the rest. Send a term in English letters or in Tamil script and you get up to four entries with the word, its Tamil form, the meaning and where the definition comes from. Spelling drift is tolerated, so poramboke also finds purambokku. It costs nothing.

A real answer from the API; the note is cut short, and balance_after and request_id are left out.
What it returns
One call, one answer. found is false (status not_found) when the dictionary has no entry for the term.
| Field | What it holds |
|---|---|
entries[] | Up to four entries, closest first: term, tamil (the Tamil script form), meaning (cut at a whole sentence near 900 characters), language and source. |
source | Written for LandLens, or Historical glossary for an entry reproduced as the older glossary compiled it. |
match | exact, partial (the term inside a compound entry) or phonetic (a close spelling, not the one asked for). |
more_entries | How many further entries matched beyond the four shown, when there are any. |
query | The term as you sent it. |
note | Guidance for an AI reading the answer: give the Tamil form with the English word, and treat a phonetic match as a guess to confirm. |
Inputs
The JSON body of the POST is the arguments.
| Argument | Type | What to send |
|---|---|---|
termrequired |
string | The word to explain, in English letters or Tamil script, e.g. poramboke, nanjai, natham, kist or புறம்போக்கு. |
Code
Set LANDLENS_KEY to your key. In an AI app, connect https://verified.realestate/mcp once and ask in plain words instead. In Postman, download this API's collection, import it (File, Import) and set apiKey.

My patta says part of the survey is "poramboke". What does that mean, and can I build on it?
Your AI reads the meaning from the glossary and says what the word means, not what your parcel is classified as.
Responses
Every answer has the same envelope. What status can say for this call:
| status | What it means |
|---|---|
ok | At least one entry matched. |
not_found | The dictionary has no entry for the term, or no term was sent. message suggests the register spelling to try. |
free_limit_reached | Your account has used its free calls for the hour or the day. retry_after says when they come back. |
Where the data comes from
A dictionary of Tamil Nadu land, revenue and deed terms: an older historical land glossary, reproduced as compiled, with entries written and checked by LandLens for the words buyers meet most.
More than 8,000 entries, almost all carrying the term in Tamil script beside the English spelling. Where a word has more than one sense (patta as the revenue record and as an old unit of measure) each sense is kept.
A reference work, not a register. Entries change only when we add or correct one, so no freshness date applies.
An exact match first, then the term inside a compound entry (NANJAI, NANJEY), then a spelling that sounds and reads close. match says which rung answered. Entries written for LandLens lead the older glossary's senses of the same word.
Who uses it
Buyers
Make sense of the words on a patta, an EC or a sale deed before signing: nanjai, punjai, natham, anubhavam.
Property platforms
Show a tooltip with the meaning and Tamil form beside every revenue term on a listing or a report.
AI assistants
Answer "what does this word on my document mean" from a checked dictionary instead of a guess.
Limits and good practice
- This is what a word means, not what your land is. To learn how a particular survey is classified, read the register (patta, A-register) for that parcel.
- A phonetic match is a near spelling, not the word you sent. Check the term in the entry before relying on it.
- Some entries come from an older historical glossary and are reproduced as compiled; source says which, and their examples are illustrations, not rulings.
- For what an act, rule or government order requires, use knowledge_search rather than the glossary.
Pricing
The glossary costs nothing. Free calls are subject to the account's hourly and daily allowance. Credits come from the same LandLens wallet as the chat and the minis. How billing works.
Free calls have an hourly and daily allowance. For more than that, or a platform built on these registers, we set up limits and a plan to match.
Questions
Is there an API for Tamil land and revenue terms?
Yes. The LandLens glossary returns the meaning and the Tamil script form of a land, revenue or deed term as JSON, over plain HTTPS or as an MCP tool your AI assistant can call. It is free.
Can I send the word in Tamil?
Yes. A term in Tamil script is matched against the Tamil form of each entry.
What if I spell the word differently?
English spellings of Tamil words drift, so the search falls back to a close spelling (poramboke finds purambokku) and says match phonetic when it does.
How many terms does it cover?
More than 8,000 entries, almost all with a Tamil form.
Does it cost anything?
No. It costs nothing, within the account's allowance of free calls.
