Waqf Land API: is this survey recorded Waqf Board land?
Yes. waqf_land checks a Tamil Nadu survey number against the Tamil Nadu Waqf Board's land register: whether it is recorded as waqf land, which institution (a mosque, dargah or madrasa) holds it, with the institution's GS number, register number and supervising office, in English and Tamil. It can also list an institution's parcels by name. Waqf land cannot be sold without Waqf Board sanction. It costs 1 credit per check, including a check that comes back clear.

A real answer from the API (22 Oct 2026), with the reading note left out. The Tamil name is printed as the register writes it.
What it returns
A parcel check returns is_waqf_land and the matching rows. A clear answer (is_waqf_land false) is a real answer and is charged.
| Field | What it holds |
|---|---|
is_waqf_land | true when the survey is recorded as waqf land; false when the register has no row for it. |
parcels | Up to 10 rows: institution and institution_ta, waqf_id, gs_no, register_no, officer (the supervising office), village or town, block, taluk, district, survey and extent (as the register writes it). |
total_matches | How many rows matched. |
survey | The survey you asked about. |
institutions | With waqf_name: up to five institutions matching the name, each with gs_no, register_no, officer, parcel_count and a sample of its parcels. |
message | On a clear answer: what it does and does not establish. |
Ways to call it

Is town survey 3103, block 47, in Tondiarpet recorded as waqf land?
Your AI says the price, checks the Waqf Board register, and names the institution and its register number.
Responses
Every answer has the same envelope. What status can say for this call:
| status | What it means |
|---|---|
ok | The check ran: is_waqf_land is true or false, or the institution was found. Charged 1 credit. |
not_found | No institution matches the name you sent, or neither a waqf_name nor a district or village was sent. Nothing is charged. |
Where the data comes from
The Tamil Nadu Waqf Board's register: the list of waqf institutions with their GS and register numbers and supervising office, and each institution's land parcels with survey number and extent.
About 6,600 land parcels of about 5,500 waqf institutions across Tamil Nadu, village and town survey land, in our copy of the Board's register.
The institution list is refreshed every 90 days. The land parcels are refreshed by a supervised run, since the Board's land search sits behind a captcha.
Matched by district (every spelling, or the Tamil name), village or town (English or Tamil), and the old or new survey number. For town survey land, the block picks the row. The sub-division is not filtered on, so a neighbouring waqf sub-division shows too.
Who uses it
Buyers and brokers
Check a plot against the Waqf Board register before an advance is paid.
Law firms
Cite the institution, its GS number and register number in a title opinion.
Lenders
Screen collateral for waqf land before sanction.
Limits and good practice
- A clear answer means the register has no row for the survey. It is a good sign, not a legal guarantee.
- The sub-division is not filtered on. Read each row's survey against your own sub-division.
- A town survey number repeats across blocks. Send block, or the answer may include another block's parcel.
- Extent is given as the register writes it, without a unit.
Pricing
Each check costs 1 credit, whether it finds waqf land or comes back clear; nothing when a name matches no institution. Credits come from the same LandLens wallet as the chat and the minis. How billing works.
For thousands of calls a month, a portfolio sweep or a platform built on these registers, we quote a customised bulk price, with invoicing to match.
Questions
Is there an API to check waqf land in Tamil Nadu?
Yes, this one. It checks a survey number against the Tamil Nadu Waqf Board register and names the institution that holds it.
How much does a waqf land check cost?
1 credit per check, including a check that comes back clear.
Can waqf land be bought?
Not without the Waqf Board's sanction. A parcel recorded here should go to a lawyer before any money moves.
Can I search by mosque or dargah name?
Yes. Send waqf_name in English or Tamil; each matching institution comes back with its parcel count and a sample of its parcels.
